Where your data is stored.
- Database with your account, domains, API keys, email history, contacts and delivery events: Cloudflare D1 in its EU jurisdiction
- Email content and attachments: Cloudflare R2 in its EU jurisdiction, deleted 30 days after an email is sent or received
- Sending and receiving: Amazon SES in Ireland (eu-west-1); incoming email arrives in Ireland and is removed there as soon as Mailumi has stored it
- The API runs next to Amazon SES in Ireland, and the SMTP server runs in Amsterdam without storing messages
- Payments and invoices: Stripe
Simpler GDPR answers.
For the email you send and receive with Mailumi, you are the controller and Mailumi is your processor. Because recipients, content and delivery history stay in EU data centres, your records of processing and your answers to customers’ privacy questionnaires stay short.
Every provider that processes data for Mailumi is listed in the privacy notice. Where one processes data outside the European Economic Area, such as Stripe for payments, the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
An EU domain set up in minutes.
Add your domain and Mailumi shows the DNS records with a plain-language explanation of each. On Cloudflare, Mailumi adds them itself after you approve access. For GoDaddy, Namecheap, TransIP, Strato, IONOS and other providers, it recognises your provider and shows where to click, with screenshots and the exact values.
Every email is signed with your domain’s DKIM key and uses a return path on your own domain, so SPF, DKIM and DMARC line up for Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo.
Where email APIs store your data

| SendGrid | EU data residency on Pro (from $89.95/month) and Premier | EU only for an EU subuser with an EU dedicated IP; otherwise global |
| Mailgun | EU region, chosen per domain | Messages and logs in the EU; account details, API keys and domain names replicated globally |
| Postmark | None | United States |

EU email API: common questions
- Does an EU sending region keep my data in the EU?
- Not always. Resend, for example, sends from Ireland when you choose that region but stores message content, logs and account data in the United States. Mailumi stores them in the EU and sends through Ireland on every plan.
- Is Mailumi GDPR compliant?
- Mailumi is built for GDPR: data is stored in the EU, Mailumi acts as your processor for the email you send, email content is deleted after 30 days and every sub-processor is listed in the privacy notice. How you use it matters too; for example, only send campaigns to people who agreed to receive them.
- Does keeping data in the EU cost extra?
- No. Every plan uses the same EU setup. Free includes 3,000 emails a month, Pro is $20 a month for 50,000 emails and Scale is $80 a month for 250,000 emails.
- Can I use SMTP and still keep data in the EU?
- Yes. The SMTP server at smtp.mailumi.com runs in Amsterdam and passes each message straight to the Mailumi API without storing it, so email sent over SMTP is stored in the EU like every other email.
