SendGrid alternative

A simpler SendGrid alternative.

Mailumi is a SendGrid alternative for teams that want a simple email API and a free plan that does not expire. Mailumi Free includes 3,000 emails a month with no time limit, while SendGrid’s free option is a 60-day trial. At 250,000 emails a month Mailumi costs $80 and SendGrid at least $166.95.

SendGrid (Twilio) is one of the largest email platforms, with many products and plans. If you mainly need to send and receive transactional email from your own domain, Mailumi keeps it simple: one API, clear DNS steps and three plans.

Free plan with 3,000 emails a month. No credit card required.

Pricing compared.

SendGrid’s Email API plans start at $19.95 a month for 50,000 emails (Essentials) and $34.95 for 100,000. Pro starts at $89.95 for 100,000 emails and adds dedicated IPs and subusers. Mailumi Pro is $20 for 50,000 emails and Scale is $80 for 250,000.

Extra emails on SendGrid Essentials cost $1.33 per 1,000 on the 50,000 plan and $0.88 on the 100,000 plan. Mailumi charges $1.00 per 1,000 on Pro and $0.80 on Scale.

Less to configure.

Mailumi shows the exact DNS records for your domain with a plain-language explanation of each, checks them automatically and can add them on Cloudflare in one click. API keys can be limited to one domain and given an expiry.

Sending is one flat JSON POST with from, to, subject and html or text, with no personalizations or content arrays, so most SendGrid integrations get shorter.

Inbound and campaigns included.

SendGrid offers Inbound Parse for receiving and sells Marketing Campaigns as a separate product. Mailumi includes inbound email with signed webhooks and Campaigns with templates in every plan, in one dashboard.

SendGrid suits large senders that need dedicated IPs or subuser accounts. Mailumi suits product teams that want a clean API, fast domain setup and predictable monthly pricing. Software that sends through SendGrid’s SMTP relay can switch by changing the host to smtp.mailumi.com and the password to a Mailumi API key.
